massive sketch dump

When I said I was bad at updating regularly, I meant it. I don't like making excuses, so I'll skip right to the sucking up.

sorry.sorry.sorry.sorry.sorry.sorry.sorry.sorry.sorry.sorry.sorry.sorry.sorry.sorry.sorry.sorry.

sorry.

onto the doodles!

Some tree roots in one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.

Eyelid practice and graffiti flotsam.

More graffiti flotsam.
This was actually the sketch for the window mural we did last Halloween.
A Danielle-ized version of the creation of Adam, as painted by the awesome Michelangelo (not a ninja or a turtle).
This one was mostly just an excuse to draw the "happy" meal in the bottom left corner. The rest of the doodles just sort of drew themselves. And no, I don't know why Uncle Vernon is there. ...hmm... I just looked at this again, and I realized that I need to 'splain some other things. the pictograph on the bottom is "eye sea ewe P". Why, yes - my sense of humor is rather sophisticated. Then we have Emo clown shooting peter pan in the ear. And then the ever ominous Monacle Man - he likes to pop up on my math homework.
She kind of just drew herself. I had seen this girl on campus earlier in the day, and her face just stuck with me.

Rachel, the Disney-princess

A little Disney-inspired number I did to thank my recent roomie, Rachel, for not killing me in my sleep :)
I've been getting a lot of requests to draw and design things lately. Maybe I can figure out a way of making money off of this new found popularity so I can eat this fall...haha...ha....ha....ahhhh....

GO GO Gadget-external-defillibrator!

ahem. so yeah. I suck at updating blogs. this is not new. but I have been drawing, and that's good... ahem...

I've been wanting to do a semi-realistic Inspector Gadget series for awhile, and I did a quick sketch of the Inspector himself that I'm starting to like:

It was only like a ten minute sketch, but I plan to evelop it further - it's Gadget kickin' back with a good book after a tough day of busting some bad guys.

because I was out of matches.

Therefore it stands to reason that the only other way of destroying my music theory book is by bludgeoning it with my flute.

....I need to post stuff that takes me more than 2 minutes to draw... ah well.

Fortitude -rough draft 1-

Since I wanted to post something every week, I figured I should try and show a progression of one piece so that I could focus on getting my ideas refined instead of settling for quick sketches. After all, that's what I started this for, right?
This is just something I caught myself doodling on my computer last Sunday after I read something in a very special book :)
Photo reference was used from Corbis.com

Neopolitan 6...

Just a quicky, but I've been thinking it's funny recently that while studying music theory we learn many many MANY rules about correct music format etc, blah blah blah, and it makes my head spin because there are so many possiblities...and then I go home and study and realize that everything looks different, but usually they all end up sounding just like IV to V to I. so as long as I follow that format...I'll probably do ok :)

Erasurity

ha ha - guess who? Since I am a lazy bum this week, no new art...sorry...
but this is one of my favorite assignments from junior-high. We had to do a self portrait in an unusual way and I chose to do mine with ink and the eraser on my #2 (pencil). It's all done with stippling the ink on with different amounts of pressure. I sound like I know what I'm doing - don't be fooled!!!

Fangirling

Yes - it's true: I am over 20 years old, and I still love watching saturday morning cartoons. I watch a Disney movie at least every two weeks, and admit to liking comic books. Yay me! Most of the time when I watch movies now I like to sketch expressions. Disney is especially easy to imitate because the emotional impressions are so exaggerated hee hee... so here's a few doodles. Hopefully you can tell what they're from...

This one is a little pathetic - I don't usually draw with pens...so the proportions are different than what I wanted in the first place, but I really like Cap'n Hook's hair, so I decided to show it :) heh heh

Aladdin being either seriously confused, angry, or caught in mid-song.

Yay! This is my favorite Disney movie - I love all the crazy animals they put together to make the coolness that is the Beast.

Princely Ransom

I started doing these "ransom note" collages last year. It was somewhat of a hobby for me when I was in junior high to take interesting pictures from magazines and put them together to make something new, and I thought it would be fun to do it again.
This one is a portrait of a favorite book character and contains about 30-35 separate pictures. There are tons of mistakes, but I kinda like it that way.
I like hiding personality traits in there -10 in this particular one- see how many you can find! Example: he has a "screw loose" hee hee...

Thanks Corbis photostock and google image search for some of the photos and paintings!

Contemplating the Spoon

yep > it's the TICK. For some reason I almost always think of the Tick whenever I see the statue widely known as "The Thinker". It's probably just because he's rediculously buff. ah well - till next time remember:

"Spoon boy: Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Spoon boy: There is no spoon.
Neo: There is no spoon?
Spoon boy: Then you'll see, that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself. "
